Richard George Manuel (April 3, 1943 – March 4, 1986) was a Canadian composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the pianist, regular lead singer, and occasional drummer of the Band. He was a member of the original band from 1967 to 1976 and the re-formed band from 1983 until his death. Tragically, suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction, he committed suicide in his early forties.
He started playing the piano at the age of nine and later trained briefly at the Ontario Conservatory of Music. In his mid-teens, he formed a band called The Revols. Richard Manuel is a member of Richest Celebrities and Rock Singers.
