Harold Vernon Gould (December 10, 1923 – September 11, 2010) was an American actor best known for playing Miles Webber on the 1985-1992 sitcom The Golden Girls and Martin Morgenstern in the 1974-1978 sitcom Rhoda. Gould acted in film and television for nearly 50 years, appearing in more than 300 television shows, 20 major motion pictures, and over 100 stage plays, and received Emmy Award nominations five times. He is known for playing elegant, well-dressed men (as in The Sting), and he regularly played Jewish characters and grandfather-type figures on television and film. He acted in summer stock stage productions and finished his Albany Teachers College Bachelor’s degree before earning a Ph.D. in theatre from Cornell University in 1948.
He was born in Schenectady, New York to a Jewish postal worker father and a health department employee mother. He graduated as his high school’s class valedictorian and studied briefly at Albany Teachers College before serving in World War II. Harold Gould is a member of Richest Celebrities and TV Actors.
