Halldor Laxness was born in Reykjavik on Wednesday, April 23, 1902 (G.I. Generation generation). He is 122 years old and is a Taurus. Halldór Kiljan Laxness was a twentieth-century Icelandic writer. Throughout his career Laxness wrote poetry, newspaper articles, plays, travelogues, short stories, and novels. Major influences included August Strindberg, Sigmund Freud, Sinclair Lewis, Upton Sinclair, Bertolt Brecht and Ernest Hemingway. He received the 1955 Nobel Prize in Literature; he is the only Icelandic Nobel laureate. He was blacklisted in the United States after writing a satirical novel, The Atom Station, about the consequences of the atomic bomb.
